The tactics continue to escalate, and corrupt elements who flee are gradually being brought to justice

In recent years, the "Skynet" operation has been continuously carried out, and China's international cooperation against corruption has been continuously deepened. The methods of pursuing fugitives and recovering stolen goods have been continuously upgraded, and the strategies have become more precise. The "Skynet" has become increasingly dense, and corrupt elements who fled have been brought to justice one after another.

In June 2014, the Central Anti Corruption Coordination Group established the International Office for Chasing fugitives and recovering stolen goods, sounding the horn of "where there is a fugitive, one must be pursued to the end".

In March 2015, the Central Chasing and Escaping Office launched the "Skynet" operation. In April of the same year, the China Central Bureau of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) released a red wanted notice for 100 suspected fugitive country workers and individuals involved in important corruption cases. Three days later, Dai Xuemin was arrested and brought to justice, marking the first person to be arrested after the release of the "100 Red Alert" list. In November 2016, Yang Xiuzhu, a member of the "Hundred Red Cross Personnel," returned to China to surrender. In November 2018, Yao Jinqi was extradited back to China. This is the first successful extradition case after the establishment of the National Supervisory Commission. In October 2022, Qu Jianling, a member of the "Red Cross" who had been on the run for 27 years, was arrested overseas and sent back to her country.

China continues to increase its crackdown on corruption and money laundering crimes

While pursuing fugitives, China continues to increase its crackdown on corruption and money laundering crimes, making it impossible for stolen funds to be hidden or transferred domestically and to be found and recovered overseas. Strengthen the fence of the anti escape system, actively build a comprehensive anti escape system with a focus on people, certificates, and money, improve the anti escape warning and emergency linkage mechanism, and strengthen the anti escape measures for key objects.

As of now, 61 of the "100 Red Cross personnel" have been brought to justice. During the period from the 18th to 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the "Skynet Action" recovered a total of 10668 fugitives and 44.79 billion yuan in stolen funds, resulting in a significant decrease in the number of newly fugitive corrupt elements.

In addition, in 2023, the Central Anti Corruption and Cross border Affairs Office will coordinate the international and domestic battlefields of the fight against corruption, deepen international cooperation against corruption from the perspective of safeguarding national security and interests, and deepen the high-quality development of anti corruption and cross-border corruption governance in the new era and new journey, providing strong support for winning the protracted battle against corruption.
