Under the guidance and coordination of the Anti smuggling Bureau of the General Administration of Customs, the Anti smuggling Bureau of Nanjing Customs recently sent an overseas pursuit team to Thailand to arrest Lin Mouping, a major smuggling suspect who had fled for nearly 20 years and was hunted down by a red warrant, and escort him home.

This man is Lin Mouping, a fugitive from a major smuggling case. In June 2003, the Anti smuggling Bureau of Nanjing Customs investigated a case of smuggling frozen seafood worth 73.52 million yuan. The main suspect, Lin Mouping, who was then the general manager of an ocean fishing company in Zhejiang, absconded abroad.

Wu Haohua, Deputy Director of the Zhenjiang Branch of the Anti Smuggling Bureau of Nanjing Customs: From December 2000 to January 2003, Lin Mouping used the tax exemption policy for self catching aquatic products in deep-sea fisheries to falsely report 13296 tons of frozen sea fish ordered in countries such as Thailand and India as self fishing and smuggle them into China, evading national taxes of 16.7 million yuan.

In September 2003, Lin Mouping was arrested with the approval of the procuratorial organs in accordance with the law. In December, the International Criminal Police Organization issued a red wanted order against him. There has been no news of Lin Mouping's escape, but the Nanjing Customs Anti Smuggling Bureau has never given up on his pursuit work.

Wu Haohua, Deputy Director of the Zhenjiang Branch of the Anti Smuggling Bureau of Nanjing Customs: After he fled, we organized a special team to comprehensively sort out his social relationships and financial transactions, and determined that he is highly likely to be hiding in Thailand. We reported to the Fox Hunting Office of the Ministry of Public Security through the Anti Smuggling Bureau of the General Administration of Customs, and requested relevant departments to control him and compress his escape space. At the same time, we carried out persuasion work through family members to return him.

After learning that Lin Mouping was hiding in Thailand, the Nanjing Customs Anti Smuggling Bureau quickly established a working group to carry out pursuit and escape work in Thailand. With the assistance of the police liaison officer of our embassy in Thailand and the Thai law enforcement department, Lin Mouping was recently successfully arrested and brought back to China, and further investigation was conducted in accordance with the law.
